Privacy Policy
How RINS collects, uses, and protects your information.
Effective Date: July 20, 2026 · Last Updated: July 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how RINS.COM LLC ("RINS," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use rins.com and related services (the "Service"). It is incorporated into our Terms of Service.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, the controller of your personal information is RINS.COM LLC, 707 Skokie Blvd, Suite 600, Northbrook, IL 60062, USA. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact legal@rins.com. We have not appointed an EU/UK representative or a Data Protection Officer.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information you provide:
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored hashed), and any profile details you add.
- Billing data: subscription plan and billing records. Payment card details are collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. — we receive limited information such as the last four digits, card brand, and payment status, not full card numbers.
- User Content: watchlists, ticker and pair selections, parameter and filter settings, and any notes or support messages you send us.
b. Information collected automatically:
- Usage and device data: pages viewed, features used, screening queries run, approximate timestamps, IP address, browser type, device and operating system, and referring pages.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for authentication/session management, preferences, security, and analytics. See Section 8.
c. Information from third parties:
- We do not purchase personal data about you from data brokers. Market data we display (prices, fundamentals) comes from data vendors such as Financial Modeling Prep, but that is market information about instruments, not personal information about you.
We do not intentionally collect special-category/sensitive personal data (such as government IDs, health, or biometric data). Please do not submit it through the Service.

4. How We Share Information
We share personal information only as follows:
- Service providers (processors) who act on our instructions, including: cloud hosting/infrastructure (Amazon Web Services, Inc.), network security/CDN (Cloudflare, Inc.), payment processing (Stripe, Inc.), and similar providers we may engage from time to time (for example, email delivery, analytics, or error monitoring). These providers are bound by contract to protect your data and use it only to provide their services to us.
- Legal and safety: to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; to enforce our Terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RINS, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
- With your direction or consent: when you ask us to share information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.
5. International Data Transfers
We may process and store information in the United States of America. If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another region with cross-border transfer rules, transfers are made under an appropriate safeguard, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (2021) and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or an applicable adequacy decision.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described, then delete or anonymize it:
- Account and User Content: for the life of your account and up to 90 days after deletion, except where longer retention is required.
- Billing and tax records: as required by law (often seven (7) years).
- Security logs: up to 12 months.
- Backups: purged on our routine backup-rotation cycle.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete your information ("right to be forgotten");
- Port your information to another service;
- Object to or restrict certain processing;
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent);
- Opt out of sale/sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share, but you may still exercise this right); and
- Lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority (e.g., your EU supervisory authority, the UK ICO, or the California Privacy Protection Agency).
How to exercise: contact legal@rins.com or use in-app account controls. We will verify your identity and respond within the timeframe required by law (generally 30 days under GDPR/UK GDPR, extendable by 60 days; 45 days under CCPA/CPRA, extendable by 45 days). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Certain requests may be limited by exemptions (e.g., legal-retention obligations).
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): in the past 12 months we collect the categories described in Section 2 (identifiers, commercial/subscription information, internet activity, and the financial-account information held by our processor). We use and disclose them for the business purposes in Sections 3–4. We do not sell or share personal information or use sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit. You may exercise access, deletion, correction, and opt-out rights as above, including through an authorized agent.
8. Cookies and Tracking
We use:
- Strictly necessary cookies for login/session and security (cannot be disabled);
- Preference cookies to remember settings; and
- We currently use first-party cookies only (authentication/session and preferences); we do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we will update this Policy first.
You can control cookies through your browser settings.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, network protections, monitored infrastructure, and regular backups. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact legal@rins.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy with a new "Last Updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice (e.g., email or in-app notice). Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
